Terms & Conditions

Appointments & Deposits

• All appointments must be booked in advance through our online scheduling system. While we also schedule via email, call, or text, online booking is preferred.

We cannot accommodate walk-ins.

• A $75 deposit for bridal alterations and a $35 deposit for formalwear alterations is required at the time of booking. These deposits are non-refundable and will be applied to your final bill. Your deposit secures your appointment time. If you are unable to attend and do not provide notice, the deposit will be applied to the reserved time and is non-refundable.

Turnaround Time & Rush Fees

• Our standard turnaround time for alterations is 3–4 weeks.

• Rush alterations may be available on a case-by-case basis. A rush fee will be applied based on the turnaround time and complexity of the work. Please inquire before booking if you need expedited service.

Final Fittings & Garment Responsibility

• Once the gown leaves our studio, Sewing Hands Alterations is not responsible for any damages, stains, or further adjustments needed.

• If repairs or additional adjustments are needed after pickup, a new alterations ticket will be required, and additional costs will be incurred.

Fabric Limitations & Creative Solutions

• Some gowns, particularly those with heavy beading, lace, or delicate fabrics, may have limitations when it comes to alterations. If any challenges arise, creative solutions will be discussed to accommodate these limitations while maintaining the integrity of the gown.

Cleaning Services & Disclaimer

• We offer a cleaning service for gowns and formalwear. While we strive to remove stains and restore garments to their best condition, we cannot guarantee that all stains will be fully removed or that the fabric will return to its original state. We will always take the utmost care to preserve the integrity of the fabric during cleaning.

Pickup & Storage Policy

• Once alterations are complete and final payment is made, clients must take their gown home. We do not provide long-term storage.

• If temporary storage is needed, we may accommodate up to 14 days if space allows. During peak season, storage may not be available.

• If a gown is left unclaimed due to a wedding cancellation, personal circumstances, or abandonment, someone must pick it up within 30 days. After this period, the gown becomes the property of Sewing Hands Alterations and will be removed from the premises.

Abandoned Property: While Michigan law does not mandate a specific holding period for abandoned items, we strive to handle all belongings with care. If a gown remains unclaimed beyond 30 days past the original wear date without alternate arrangements being made, we will make reasonable efforts to contact the owner. If the owner cannot be reached, the gown will be considered abandoned and may be disposed of or donated.
